I decided, in spite of my principles, I decided to vote for the first time since the first time I voted at the national elections sometimes between 1985 and 1986 (I think).
I am against the right to vote given to the Italians living abroad, especially if these have never lived in Italy and even more against the fact of voting for a special constituency setup just to give a say to the children of the Italian Diaspora.

I wish there was a party proposing the abolition of civil rights, increase tax by 100% to all citizens, seize properties, fire indiscriminately any worker, so I could vote for that. This would have been such a great fun because I am abroad and I do not give a shit if Fascists or Communists get into power.
However, with this current election system I can make a difference, especially at the Senate. Where the senator that will come out of this constituency will be courted by whoever is short of votes. A senator that probably never lived in Italy, doesn't even speak the language and the most important thing in his agenda is cancel tax on properties held by non residents in Italy.
So, I have to vote for someone like that while i could have been included in the constituency covering my last residency place and my vote would have been diluted with those of the others, without major damages.. but this is part of the horse trading policies that populism imposed during the second Berlusconi government.
As I mentioned in one of my posts, I really hope that there will be no clear majority so that the nightmare of smaller parties, a Veltrusconi government, fruit of a Grosse Koalition a la amatriciana would draw new rules.
So I decided to vote and I will vote for the Democratic Party because I am sure that it will lose at the Lower House but can still make it at the Upper House.
But I was really wondering who I should have voted for if I had to follow my ideals that are well represented in the UK by the LibDems, in France by the UMP, in Germany by the Liberals.
where will liberals vote? Oh, I forgot... No liberals in Italy... so the problems is not there...
I am trying to come back to life...
