3 days to the Olympic explosions of colours, sounds, fireworks and pride and Beijing is still in the arms of the fog. This strange fog that seems to appear out of nothing. Last weekend has been beautiful with high temperatures and blue skies and on Monday morning, here you go with the surprise: never seen so much fog since I am here!
What will they do to reduce it is currently unknown but they will have to do something even if, I reckon, the authorities are counting on the rain that should accompany the ceremony this weekend.
Yesterday the Olympic spirit has been disturbed by the bomb exploded in a remote province. A bomb that has killed 16 policemen and injured a few more. Those that are keen to jump on the train of the independence seekers, whether Tibet or other Islamic provinces in China, should think twice. independence granted to 2 or 3 or 10 provinces will lead to the dissolution and the misery of China. it is bloody easy to make independentist thesis as own but, believe me, China is not as Slovenia and Croatia but is more like Kosovo. The population minority in regions like the one where the bomb exploded yesterday represent 57% of the total pollution and the majority 43%... This to give you an idea of the mess that can come out if independence is granted. And, I am afraid, when bombs are planted, I always support the Central Governments. No matter whether this is Palestine or Chechnya or Tibet.
The athletes, so far, have declared that the Olympic village is great and they love the whole setting and organisation. food is excellent and facilities are top class ones.
That makes me happy, showing the appreciation for the job the Organisers have done in these 7 years.
Another piece of news was commented with sarcasm by the foreign media:
Protest application procedure piles out
People wanting to protest during the Beijing Games must seek police permission five days ahead of their actions, according to a statement posted on the official BOCOG website over the weekend.
I wonder, what the difference is between Italy and here or any other Democratic World Country...
You always need the authorities approval to stage a protest. Actually, in my country they even forbid those that are not "convenient" to the Vatican. we might me a lay state but we have the Pacts with the Holy See embedded in our Constitution, for God sake! In my country the mayor of the city of Novara has declared that 3 people in the street (loitering) are a public threat! Same for the curfew in the parks and so on... Come on!
So guys, enjoy the opening Ceremony and will keep you posted this weekend as usual!
cheers!
I am trying to come back to life...
