Me Ol' China, Olympics at last!

How can one enjoy the ceremony when, against the Olympic spirit Georgia and Russia start a war?
I felt really odd seeing the Georgians waving and smiling at the parade. It was more emotional than seeing Taiwan and Japan being applauded by the Chinese crowds or looking at my country representatives going through.

Tradition and modernity have been well blended in the show but, I really wonder, how much is Olympic spirit and how much is national pride.

I am not sure you had the same visions I had over here: the director of the CCTV was really bad! And spent more time showing the effort of the participants to the show than the corographies they were working on.

I am sure that Nike must have spent a lot of money because the director was showing, no stop the shoes of some national teams.

Anyway, I am sure it was nice for you but, for us, over here, it was ok...

August 9th, an American tourist killed on the Drum Tower... Add this to the sadness and, frankly, the spirit is really down to lows.

Let's add on top the bombs exploded in the XinJiang province and I really wonder if this show-business camouflaged by Olympics is really worth so much fuss, so many oaths and all the hymns and slogans.

Concerning my week.

Last weekend had great time at the Botanical Gardens. Fantastic place. I am wondering how nice it an be in Spring. 2 square kilometers of plants and flowers. can't miss! Some pictures are in the Me Ol' China Sights II

Then the week has gone as usual except with the nice surprise of the Public Holiday declared on Wednesday evening.

On Saturday morning I had the strange feeling that the Olympics are over. Funny isn't it, that the feeling of relief for the Opening ceremony prevails on the athletes?

Usually, I spend the whole Olympic period in front of the TV, this time I am not even planning of watching anything. As far as I am concerned the Olympics have finished already.

Friday and Saturday spent both days out and about and Sunday, today is going to be the same.

Guys, I do not fancy writing much.

Catch you later!

Oh, let me mention someone. My front tooth temporary crown broke and I went to visit a dentist clinic. Very professional, courteous and nice. They fixed it and didn't want any money for that. I thought I would have mentioned this clinic: Arrail.

And while I am here let me mention the reception of the hotel WOFOSI located on the North side of the Botanical Garden. They called us a taxi and allowed us to stay in the reception despite the fact we were not clients and a bit sweaty. Thanks a lot!
