Italy continues the ideological war waged against China and its “biased” media that the Far East giant presents. If you had read some of my blogs in the past, you certainly know that I have been contradicting, strongly and vehemently, what the Western media was saying about China, the media and the official government positions.
Some journalists are shameless and today I was watching a special report by RAI UNO, broadcast on RAI ITALIA, about Mumbai’s tragedy.
The journalist in the Rome office starts with a “We have Paolo Longo, our correspondent in China that will confirm that there has been no mention at all in China about the Mumbai events. Isn’t it Paolo?” Paolo Longo: “It’s not true. Newspapers and TV have all mentioned it and, yes, they have not given the same time and visibility we have done in Europe but nevertheless the media has reported the events and followed the situation”. The journalist in Rome wasn’t so happy: “But for sure the government hasn’t mentioned anything at all”. Longo: “officially there has been no communications but I do not think that this is due to any special reasons. India and China are competitors (…) in some cases but recently they are increasing cooperation (…) and China has got bigger problems to think about these days”. Journalist “What kind of problems?”. Longo: “Strong economic crisis that seems to be much worse than expected…” bla bla bla…
Ok, if you cannot take my word for it, take the one coming directly from India:

FULL OF SHIT! Especially when it is well known that China is facing some religious related issues with Islamic groups looking for independence from Beijing, not to talk about the well-known Tibetan story.
