A busy and useless week.

A very anonymous and quite week has gone and the weather is getting better. The usual afternoon tropical rain has been absent for a couple of days and the temperatures are sort of stabilising around mid twenties during the day and 12 17 in the night.

Very pleasant feeling in the morning, when going out of my place. The sun, the smell and the feeling is the typical one you get when you are in a Mediterranean place during Summer. Fantastic!

As I said this week I haven’t done much I even forgot to have dinner one day and I have been seeing nobody at all all week! How do I feel about it? Bloody marvelous!

I am counting days now! Dec 19th I will fly to Europe and back here 3 weeks later.

Work is being hectic but the days pass quicker and I am working less hours because too tired after the usual 8 hours business…

The period of crisis, financial one, is continuing with Central Banks cutting rates and governments trying to help the business and, just taking into account the main news appeared on my PC ticker, this week have been decided cuts for 250,000 jobs in the Financial sector around the world, 533000 Americans have lost their job in November, have been committed 1.2 trillion dollars to enhance economies, sold 40 to 60 percent less cars during last month or so and there have been a few more flooding and tragedies that hit always the poorest parts of the world. The Catholic Church is still progressing towards the past and in a couple of years we should restart the Holy Inquisition and I might be burned in Campo dei Fiori in Rome.

This week the church has shown the worst of itself as far as equal rights are concerned and they won a little battle in Italy. The current school reform that had attracted protests, strikes and violence all over Italy had cut out 130 million euro “support money” to private catholic schools, and after a little protest, a newspaper article, they are going to reintegrate… Brilliant! In less than one hour 120 of the 130 million euro have been given back… while the students can strike as much as they want they can just piss off…

Plus there is a big battle going on between the government and SKY broadcasting because of the increase of VAT on services, doubled to 20%. This is something that was required by the EU but it is seen as something that the media tycoon and prime minister of my Mickey Mouse country, Italy, is doing to put Sky in trouble. I am sure that the dwarf is pretty genuine about this but the fact that he is a media tycoon and round most of this country media with very few exceptions, sky and La7 TV, gives way to bad thoughts. The truth is that if Berlusconi did not exist as politician, we would even look like a normal country. From TV to sport, to food, to books to… you bloody name it, there is a conflict of interests in place. America could teach us a lot but our dwarf only learns from Dubya… I cannot understand Americans either. A blow job started an impeachment process towards Clinton; killing thousands of soldiers and civilians and divert billions of dollars that could have now been useful to face the crisis has cost Dubya nothing at all! Even after admitting it on the ABC that he was a jerk… Crimes against humanity go unpunished, denying a blow job can cost you the Presidency… Unbelievable.

I was thinking, last night, while taking a shower that we are strange in Italy.
Berlusconi has had a Equal opportunities ministers two ladies, normally this is a lady position in Italy, so we can be politically correct, and the ladies have been Mara Carfagna, former showgirl, and Stefania Prestigiacomo, a very smart, sweet, beautiful and sexy lady.

I wonder… how can you have someone stunning running an equal opportunity department when it is well known that being beautiful and female gives you more opportunities than any other person? Why not give the department to someone bloody ugly, or a gay man or someone with disabilities to show clear commitment? And think of this sexy Minister, Carfagna, that says that “Gay people are constitutionally sterile” that they shouldn’t have the right of getting married or get any marriage related rights but then says “Gay Pride" marches were pointless as gays no longer suffer discrimination” well, this is the equal opportunities secretary we have in this country.

Now, I got nothing against the fact that a showgirl becomes a minister but, for God sake, this lady has been elected for the first time in the Italian Parliament and thanks to the reform called “porcellum”, to indicate something really dirty to stop the left wing coalition to win the elections, where the list of candidates is decided by the party leader and those voting cannot choose their candidates… and we talk about democracy and our dwarf gets offended if people, from his own party, talk about what Spaniards and Italians call Cesarismo or Bonapartismo!

Another sign of times changing are related to the polemic with the EU concerning the Co2 emission limits. Italy has started a battle to loosen the limits decided in the past due to the economic crisis while Britain is pushing for tightening them! I remember the days we were the paladins of the environment and Britain couldn’t care less. The environment minister in Italy is that Stefania Prestigiacomo I mentioned before, famous in Italy for her beauty and for he submission to the Boss, the Dwarf. She tried to let include a minimum number of women candidates in the locked lists I was mentioning above but she was defeated by the Parliament and she cried. Her boss told that she was childish and had to stop nagging… she is still with him… My wife would have divorced me for much less! This minister will be remembered, anyway, for her tears, her looks and her lost battles! I don’t think she ever managed to send a law through. Not bad for an equal opportunities minister ahahhaha

Another funny thing is that while Britain has to delete all DNA information stored in Scotland Yard Databases, the Italian minister of Interior has announced that by 2010 we will all be included in a Db. Britain has been ordered by the High Court of Justice that DNA Data bank is a human rights violation. Apparently Italians are not humans and have no rights.

do you know who Hanry Gustav Molaison is? Make a search and if you know the movie Memento you will understand that that movie had been inspired by a man that since 1955 had a memory span lasting 1 day. He died at 82 today. His brain will be kept for studies. Find his name on the net and you will find his story really interesting.

Brazil!!! Sometimes I forget I am in Brazil.

Nothing to report guys except that Brazilians enjoy, for breakfast, French bread (baguette style) with oil… Coffee is lovely and Feijoada is served, in Sao Paulo, Wednesdays and Saturdays.

That is it!

Kisses and hugs!
